It is hard to believe that another year is complete. As I look back on the year that was, I am proud of our association and its members on what we were able to achieve.
As we look forward to the start of 2018, now is a great time to look back at 2017...
followed by our most successful MTO evening at a sold out venue with an excellent speaker.
President's Message Con't
We continued our annual tradition with the poker tournament, we saw a lot of familiar faces and all had a great night of fun and competitive poker.
March brought us the largest MTO event to date. With Joe Lynch as our guest speaker and a variety of topics being presented we welcomed over 100 guests to the event…so large in fact that we will be moving to a larger room at Deer Creek going forward.
For the annual golf tournament, Deer Creek again was the host course. Thankfully, unlike last year, the weather was excellent. We also brought back our dinner night held at the Lake Grill where we were treated to scrumptious creations from celebrity Chef Mendoza.
The DRTA was a proud sponsor of the Big Rig Show & Shine. An open house held by board member Chris McGregor at Sign Design. The event was intended to raise money to purchase specialized bikes that are used by the children at Grandview.
Our final event of 2017 was the symposium, it was our first info night held at Deer Creek, from the feedback it is going to be a great venue to host ongoing events in 2018 and beyond.
For 2017 we partnered with Bereaved Families of Ontario – Durham Region, they are a non-profit organization that has been supporting families in Durham Region for over 20 years. The organization provides support programs to bereaved parents, young adults and teens. For more info and to donate directly please go to www.bfodurham.net
Our final board meeting of 2017 saw some change and growth on the Board. We thank Dylan, Jen and Preston for their and involvement with the DRTA and the Board from day one and we welcome Adam Gosse (Cervus Peterbilt), Linda Colgan (Bryson Insurance), Yvette Lagrois (OTTA) and Sylvia Rhodes (L. Ritchie)
