PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

It is hard to believe that another year is complete. As I look back on the year that was, I am proud of our association and its members on what we were able to achieve.

We started the year with a very fun and competitive poker tournament...

followed by our most successful MTO evening at a sold out venue with an excellent speaker.

President's Message Con't

For the annual golf tournament, we changed locations to Deer Creek in Ajax. Despite the tumultuous weather attempts, the day was a complete success and the venue was so well received that we have already booked for 2017.  All of these events along with the Christmas Party from 2015 all contributed to raise $7,000 for the Abilities Centre. From 2015 and 2016 the DRTA with the support of members like yourself have raised $11,000 to support the summer camps. The money has been used to provide extra staff for those that require one on one support and allowing them to attend the summer camps they otherwise would not have been able to attend.

Also this year we were able to be a part of the Big Rig Show & Shine. An open house held by board member Chris McGregor at Sign Design. The event was intended to raise money to purchase a specialized bike that is used by the children at Grandview. The support was overwhelming and the end result was that 3 trikes were able to be purchased. A huge testament to the support of our community.

With 2016 behind us, the focus is on the new year. We are excited to bring back by popular demand, a successful event from the past in the way of; Taste of Danforth in Durham. We are also looking forward to what we believe will be the highlight for our members in October: We will be hosting our first Transportation Symposium. A town hall style evening with prominent business leaders in our community discussing hot topics facing the industry. We are also looking to have several industry night open houses throughout the year, as a place to gather and network.

We will continue to support the Abilities Centre and have set out a goal of $10,000 to donate this year. We look forward to your support in obtaining our goal.

Keep an eye on our website for updates and to sign up for all upcoming events. In the interim, I ask that you sign up as a member to ensure you are receiving all the updates throughout the year, membership is free!

Thank you again for all of your support in 2016 and I look forward to an exciting 2016.
